Dr. Epstein is the lab leader of the Experimental Allergy Lab within the Department of Dermatology, composed of a consistent research group including all the key scientific staff mentioned above. The laboratory focuses on cellular immunology and on several different types of mouse models of allergic asthma. The laboratory is physically located at the Vienna Competence Centre, where there is contact and shared resources with researchers in the Centre for Molecular Medicine, Institute of Immunology, and Molecular Immunology and is across the street from the Vienna General Hospital which houses the Medical University. The laboratory shares equipment for molecular biology, including PCR, Real time PCR, and lumi-imager, for cellular immunology, and for working with animals. We have a 6-colour BD LSRII flow cytometry machine, as well as 2 additional FACS machines. Fluorescent and confocal microscopes are available in addition to a full complement of equipment for histology including microtomes, cryotomes, histology staining equipment, embedding equipment.
